The TOBOR THE 8TH MAN DVD is most likely sourced from the Rhino VHS releases and obviously aren't licensed by the original Japanese rightsholders.

If we're to believe these guys, there hasn't been a real "official" American release of vintage 8th Man. The problem I've found is that EastWest releases don't always list contents on the back of these "kids" releases (or on the menu, for that matter), so until you hit the start button, you can't really tell what you're in for, let alone where it was sourced.

FWIW, I picked up the Cartoon Favorites version of "Gold Shrinker" back in the day. It was a fun episode, but I feel a bit gypped after reading the 8thman.com article. I could've gotten popcorn, too!

Great find, although it's disappointing to hear that all American 8TH MAN tapes were most likely bootlegs. I should also note how that site's definition of "public domain" is a bit off.

Yeah, the if in the first post is a big "if". :)
