About Nothing over 6 bucks each!

Vault of Horror for a Dollar (Hey, I'm a poet and don't know it!) 08:00 am
mikemdp
My local dollar store had just one of these left and I snagged it. Vault of Horror is a British anthology ostensibly based on the EC comic. It was directed by the guy who did the fantastic Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde, The Vampire Lovers and The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires. It stars some British film greats, including Tom Baker (one of the Dr. Whos), Glynis Johns (the feminist mom in Mary Poppins) and, of all people, Terry-Thomas, whose murder in this film is laugh-out-loud funny. As far as I can, tell, the creepy little monster and screaming hottie on the cover are not in the movie.

I haven't watched Frightmare yet. I anticipate the worst.

Additional Dollar Digiview Disc Details 10:03 pm

As promised, here's a quick look at my latest haul of Digiview product from Walmart. Once again, we have left the world of public domain movies behind as the well is probably dry. These are all recent films, all probably licensed for cheap. Looks like a lot of "urban" titles. I'm guessing all of these were direct to video. I just wonder how much can they be paying in royalties if the disc is only $1 retail? Gotta be selling them to Walmart for about 80 cents each. Somebody has to be getting screwed here. I also picked up a few more titles not shown, like "Restaurant" with Adrian Brody, and the Shari Lewis Show.

Only one I've watched so far is "Thrill Seekers" with the zombie-esque Casper Van Diem and Catherine Bell. Martin Sheen shows up for about 30 seconds on a video monitor. The plot involves time travel tourism, the world about to be blown up, yadda, yadda, yadda. Pretty enjoyable though for a low budget sci-fi flick. Overall a fun little time waster and certainly worth a buck.
