|I picked this one up at Walgreens this morning for a buck.|
I can't vouch for Little Boy Lost, but I have to say I've only the fondest childhood memories of The Littlest Angel. In this Hallmark Hall of Fame special from 1969, Johnny Whitaker plays a young shepherd boy who dies and goes to heaven, but misses the real world. I remember one particularly touching scene in which he sings about a special box of toys and knick-knacks he still wants. But the supervising angel who lets him go home to retrieve it ends up getting reassigned as punishment(!). The cast includes Fred Gwynne, Cab Calloway, E.G. Marshall and Tony Randall.
Anyway, perhaps I'll find it maudlin and overly sentimental today, but I still can't wait to watch it.
Walgreens had a lot of new dollar movies, including a 90-minute Milton Berle DVD with precious little info about what it actually contained, and a double feature of The Road to Hollywood and The Sound of Laughter, both of which, near as I can tell, are compilations of old Hope/Crosby stuff.
