About Nothing over 6 bucks each!

Might As Well Make a game out of it 09:46 am
Hey, Packratshow, et al. Been reading the posts for quite a while, so I thought I would officially join in the fun, finally.

I was an early adopter for DVD, and when I first got into the racket, the discs were all over 20 bucks each, no matter what quality they were. Needless to say, that was a looooooong time ago, and I have watched with lust and greed in my accumulatin' heart as DVD prices have fallen through the floor over the last 7-8 years. The dollar DVD phenomenon really knocked me for a loop. Sure, a lot of crap, but also a lot of LOVABLE CRAP. Public domain stuff includes some highly entertaining schlock like The Devil's Nightmare, Fangs of the Living Dead or The Killer Shrews, and even some legimately decent films like One-Eyed Jacks.

But I thought that was going to be it. A dollar per DVD had to be the ABSOLUTE BOTTOM for DVDs, new or used. Okay, well, then I found those Treeline/Mill Creek box sets with 50 movies for 20 bucks. That certainly MUST be the lowest price ever for filmic entertainment. 40 cents per movie!

But, no. Imagine my surprise when yesterday I went to my local rare record shop here in L.A. They also sell DVDs. And what did I find but a box of those cardboard sleeve DVDs by Kreative Digital Entertainment, that apparently made an appearance at Wal-Mart last year. I think they were selling for five bucks there. Well, the record store had them priced at 49 cents. But! They were also having a sale of 70% off many items, so I ended up getting them for 15 CENTS EACH! Dumbfounding. Even if none of these are worthwhile, I only paid 3.30 for the whole stack!!! These are mostly TV movies from the 1990s, a few are from the 80's. There are action flicks, crime dramas, maybe a comedy or two. I'm sure most of these are garbage, as I took a brief look at the IMBD comments sections.

But here's what I picked up:
STREET OF DREAMS http://imdb.com/title/tt0096182/
EVIL IN CLEAR RIVER http://imdb.com/title/tt0095121/
NAKED LIE http://imdb.com/title/tt0095121/

So, here's the challenge: Does anyone out there think they can beat that price? Remember, these were unopened, purchased at a retail store, and not obtained at a swap meet, garage sale or online auction. Anyone can beat that, let's hear about it.
