If you're looking for the DVD of the 1970's anime version of The Little Mermaid, it's now out of print. However, if you can find it in your local dollar stores or wherever cheap DVDs are sold, Amazon Marketplace, or eBay, this is the cover to look for:
Hideous, ain't it? I bought this DVD, but it was glitched, unfortunately. Of course, it might not be in my new player, but sadly, I'll never know. The DVD I currently own is a bootleg made from a VCD that I recieved from a friend who used to live in England but now lives in Malaysia. But it's not much different. The print quality looks about the same, and this DVD's menu, like the one on my bootleg, features nothing but a still photo and a play option. No chapter selection menu, nothing. This DVD has 6 chapters, I believe - one every approximately 10 minutes.
It features a horrific pan and scan job. It's almost like there's no panning or scanning. They just went for the center of the image, as the image of someone who's talking is often cut off.
All in all, I still wholeheartedly recommend it. It's a beautifully done version of the fairy tale, and it's a lot closer to the original story.
