Family Value horror DVDs to be removed from Dollar Tree shelves. - Cheap DVDs

About Family Value horror DVDs to be removed from Dollar Tree shelves.

Previous Entry Family Value horror DVDs to be removed from Dollar Tree shelves. Oct. 15th, 2005 @ 04:40 pm Next Entry

Today I finally found a got a chance to pick up some of the recent Family Value Collection horror Dollar DVDs from Dollar Tree. The store I found them at had 3 full boxes of them. I was picking through the titles when I noticed that one of the boxes had a sheet of paper on top. It was an official memo from Dollar Tree requesting that 5 titles in the Horror collection were to be pulled from the shelves and held in the back until further notice. The titles listed are:

Blood Thirst/Castle Of Blood
Revolt Of The Zombies/Vengeance Of The Zombies
Night Fright/Sisters Of Death
The Invisible Ghost/The Ghost Walks
Dungeon If Harrow/It Happened At Nightmare Inn

The memo gave no other information, but I assume they're pulling them because of rights issues.

All of the boxes I ran across still had all of these titles, but I imagine they'll be gone from that store soon. About other stores, who knows. I heard stories last Halloween about Dollar Tree pulling all the copies of Lady Frankenstein because of nudity, but one of my local stores still has a few copies. Your mileage may vary.

I was at Dollar Tree last night and saw every one of those titles in the box. I guess they had not yet gotten the memo.

I went to another Dollar Tree and found almost none of the horror DVDs left and none of the mentioned titles were there.

Were they plastic or paper cases?

Digiview does seem to have a stand against nudity. There's a scene in the Magic Sword which you see a quick flash of Anne Helm's breasts, and Digiview blurred them (and did a pretty bad job at that).

A friend of mine called me earlier this afternoon saying that he went to DollarTree and was informed that they pulled all 20 of the Digiview horror titles from the shelves. The employee he spoke to didn't know the reason why they were pulled.

Thankfully, I went out and bought every one of them when they were first posted on this group.

One last thing, has anyone noticed a color problem on the Dungeon Of Harrow film? Sometimes it would play with the color all faded and then really red the next time around.

HARROW color

My copy bounces around from one end of the spectrum to the other. I had to keep sliding the tint hard left and 5 minutes later hard left to keep it semi-normal. Very odd indeed.
I have read far better looking copies are out there too.
My local store has two new boxes but they were empty of the pulled titles as of today.
